Re-opening of the Trebil borderpoint

Dear Clients, Partners and Friends,

In the recent weeks Jordanian and Iraqi Government delegations had various meeting to strengthen the political and economic relations between both countries. High official delegations of both countries visited each other.

Meanwhile they agreed on various economic and trade agreements including the re-opening of the Jordanian-Iraqi border point “TREBIL” for transit cargo.

The border was already open for Jordanian products and border traffic but on a very low and restricted level.

However, now with the new agreement Iraqi trucks are allowed to tender into Jordan. Loading of Iraqi Trucks at Aqaba Port is possible again. The trucks will move under a customs bond and customs supervision from Aqaba to the Jordan/Iraqi border. Iraqi customs clearing will take place at TREBIL border by Iraqi customs authorities. Similar to all other entrance points, valid duty and tax exemptions must be available (for e.g. governmental or investment contracts). Otherwise duties and taxes are payable at the border.

From Trebil to Baghdad, trucks will move in convoys under the control of the Iraqi Government. The transit time from Aqaba via Trebil to Baghdad is approx. 36-48 hours only.

With immediate effect we are offering this route again for your shipments.

Please contact us in case of any further questions.

Thank you!
