Dear friends,

Fracht Mauritius Ltd is pleased to announce that it was awarded the Kagera project for a client in Tanzania in December 2022.

The project was to transfer dismantled parts of an old sugar factory from the site to the port for further transportation to Tanzania.

Fracht Mauritius was awarded the local transportation of the parts, totaling 1,774 MT, from the Beau-Champ sugar factory to the port.

Fracht Mauritius’ scope of work involved loading the oversized cargo at site using specialized cranes, transport the cargo from the site to the port, export customs clearance, storage at port while waiting for the barge to arrive, rehandling the cargo once the barge was at quay and overall supervision of the whole operation from the site to port.

This whole operation was carried out successfully despite some challenges faced like the local road infrastructure was not adapted to the transport of these oversized cargo and in a very limited time frame. We had to get necessary approval from various local authorities in order to proceed with the transfer.

In total, we transferred 188 pieces, with a total of 1,774mt via 45 trips, out of which 17 using specialized low bed trailers. 10 out these 17 trips had to be carried out at night due to local restrictions. The operation was successfully carried out and the client was very happy with the overall organization and planning.

What’s next?

We are now planning for the second phase of the project , which is expected to start in Feb 2023

Best Regards/ Cordialement
